Situated in the Mornington Shire, this large island features indoor and outdoor sporting complexes, parks and markets as well as internationally renowned artworks and a rich cultural heritage.

The region remains one of the most pristine anywhere; featuring windswept beaches lined with sea oaks, rocky outcrops ,and mangroves and is one of the best fishing destinations in Australia. There are abundant marine life, such as turtle and dugong, making the region ideal if you are a keen diver and /or eco-enthusiast. 

What does the role entail?

You will be part of a small but dynamic team, looking after and managing the corporation’s finances. Reporting to the Accountant, your role is to facilitate accounts payable and manage payroll services, using MYOB software.  Basic IT troubleshooting is also required at times.

The skills knowledge and experience required for this role are sound experience in the procedures and operational methods in relation to the administration of and computer accounting for accounts payable,

Here are some things you will be doing on a weekly basis

  • Process payroll and resolve issues
  • Process invoices from requisitions
  • Match invoices to orders and goods received documentation
  • Reconcile invoices to creditors statements
  • Prepare payment runs for creditors and Employees
  • Prepare profit and loss statement and balance sheet to Board of Directors
  • Address basic IT issues in the office

Being a small team outfit, you will also need to assist with other associated duties, including relief work when the accountant is on leave.

Skills & experience needed:

  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Payroll
  • MYOB
  • IT savvy
  • Culturally aware
  • Remote Indigenous community experience will be highly regarded 

Good interpersonal and time management skills are essential in this position, as is the ability to work under limited direction and to promote teamwork and maintain positive work relations.   A Background in a remote community environment is also desirable

This is a Residential role based on a 2 years contract, NOT a FIFO role.
