Assistant Maintenance Manager, Daydream Island Resort will assist with the management of the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel Resort operations such that safety, security, conversation, and compliance are ensured at the highest levels.

What will I be doing?
As Assistant Maintenance Manager, you report to the Maintenance Manager or the Director and help assist with the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the Resort, including energy conservation, and Plant maintenance. 

Specifically, a Assistant Maintenance Manager will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Help communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas
  • Assist with the development of systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of Guests and Team Members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property
  • Communicate with Government agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations
  • Assist with the preparation of Capital and Repairs & Maintenance budgets for Engineering
  • Identify and introduce environmentally friendly systems and equipment


What are we looking for?

  • Comprehensive experience in preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Work Health & Safety process, Australian Building Standards, and legal requirements relating to building maintenance
  • Experience in sourcing and managing contractors effectively advantageous
  • Highly organised with great time management skills
  • Communication and influencing skills – verbally and in writing
  • The ability to managing varied projects and teams

Highly Favourable:

  • 5 years' experience in a Resort/ Island or remote hotel setting or similar
  • Trade background and/or tertiary qualifications
  • Experience with maintenance / setting up asset management protocols
  • Experience in maintaining occupancy permits and compliance for buildings
  • Proficient, at an advanced level, with computers and relevant computer programs
  • Managing an effective maintenance service to the hotel – including plant and equipment, rooms, public areas, restaurants and bars, back of house areas etc.
  • Maintaining all essential items according to the Occupancy Permit, Annual Fire Safety Statement and maintenance schedule as required.
  • Ensuring the Resort is operating at the most efficient and productive level possible,
  • Managing and communicating an appropriate budget.
  • Driving all maintenance tasks through a structured work plan.
  • Ensuring contractor compliance.
