Full-time opportunity for an efficient and experienced person to join a highly reputable, family owned accounting practice in Cairns. 

About the Practice

This accounting practice has been established in Cairns for decades and offer its diverse portfolio of clients all facets of Taxation Management and Financial Planning. Being a smaller firm, their personal, hands-on approach allows this practice to become a genuine part their client’s business.

About the role 

This is a diverse role with many functions across administration, customer service and support for senior staff.

Your daily activity may include answering the telephone, filing, assisting visitors and managing appointments. Accounts tasks (50%) may include working on special projects, record keeping, data input, reporting, upkeep of ASIC Registers, Minutes of Directors and Corporate Trusts. As senior staff often are away from the office, you must be able to work autonomously. You will also have the opportunity to learn a broad range of accountancy skills from very experienced and supportive senior staff.

Skills and attributes needed  

The ideal candidate is someone with solid administration experience coupled with a strong background in accounts and finance.

  • High level of business acumen
  • Solid experienced with at least one of the common accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks
  • Competent MS office user  
  • Competent communication skills both verbal and in writing 
  • Mature mindset
  • Able to work solo at times, whilst senior staff are away
  • Professional disposition 
  • Solid and stable work history 
  • Driver’s license
