Weather in Cairns
Cairns is a truly tropical city. The weather is nothing short of sensational during the most part of year, being between April — December. The wet season occurs between January and March each year with torrential rainfalls, high temperature and humidity.
This time of the year could be a little bit uncomfortable if you are used to Southern or European climate, but it produces a spectacular scenario with cascading waterfalls and a rainforest that is literally alive. This time of year also produces a fantastic fishing experience, as Barramundi and other tropical fish are most active when the water temperature is at its warmest.
During the cooler months of June and July you may encounter rugged up locals complaining about the bitter cold conditions. After all, the temperature gets down to a “freezing” 10 degrees Celsius (65 F) overnight during these months, which is considered to be winter…
